Rotary Club of McKinney
Celebrating our Accomplishments this year:
Special Celebrations
- Celebrating our 100th anniversary with a huge celebration with over 150 in attendance at the event. We had some of our senior members recall memories of the Club in the early years.
- Created a Centennial Memory Book with the history of our club.
- Celebrated 30 years of Women in Rotary with a special Woman’s only luncheon. Attendees included the current and previous women of the club and the incoming District Governor Beverly Grogan.
Paul Harris Fellows
- For our 100th anniversary, we recognized 12 Paul Harris fellows and had special recognition of these members.
Fundraisers
- Rotary Christmas Parade of Lights, raised $15,400 and had 25 floats in the parade raising funds to support local causes.
- Flag Program – We increased the number of flags from 1040 to 1135 earning $51K gross/$39K net in order to support local charities. Over 70 members, scouts and other involved in Flag lease program for over 500 Hours.
Service – Local and International
- All Abilities Playground: Playground is under construction to be dedicated this year
- Kids against Hunger meals: We prepared 612 Casserole kits for the Kids Against Hunger Program in Honduras. Each kit will feed six. During a regular meeting we packaged and sealed enough meals to feed 3,672 meals to children and families.
- International Service Rotary in Honduras - $5,000 provided improvements for 5 families including latrines, roofs, wash basins
- Food Pantry: We collected over 100 cans of canned fruit for the food pantry during September which is a month they typically don’t receive a lot of donations.
- Meals on Wheels: We had 8 volunteers delivering weekly meals to our Seniors in need. We have delivered 250 meals so far this year.
- International Service: St. Joseph’s Congregation/India - $1000
- Polio Plus - $1000
- Collected items to send to 33 soldiers in Syria
Students:
- Camp RYLA, sent 4 kids
- Students of the Month – recognized 21 students from 6 area High Schools for their outstanding achievements
- Interact – Hosted the McKinney High School Interact club with 16 members
- 4-Way Speech Competition – 4 students participated and earned prize $$ We’ll send one to compete in the district competition.
- Scholarships – Provided 2 $1,000 scholarships to students through McKinney Education Foundation
- McKinney Youth Leadership Program – We had 21 graduates from our Program which includes monthly sessions on Leadership, Finance, Etiquette, a tour of the jail, car maintenance, College readiness and many more
- Model UN Team to Chicago – 4 students participated from McKinney High School
Non-Profit Support – Foundation Grants and Charity of the Monthly Bucket collections

Website and weekly bulletins and administration:
- We updated and completely revamped our website – mckinneyrotary.org
- Sent out weekly bulletins with program reminders and photos, etc.
- Submitted information to District 5810 about our events and activities to share
- Rewrote both the Club and Club’s Foundation Bylaws
Rotary Events
- Attended the International Conference in Toronto – 2 members
- Sent 3 trainees to PETS
- Attended the District 5810 Awards Ceremony & Received the Public Relations Award
- Attended the Polio Plus Mardi Gras Event
- Used the Rotary Wheel at all District events and local club events
