Adams Animals began accidentally in 1999 when Mr. and Mrs. Hurst took a stuffed animal to the hospital where there 18 year old son Adam had died a few months prior from leukemia.  They went on his birthday to ease their sorrow and saw the light in a child’s eyes on the pediatric cancer ward upon receiving the gift.  Adams Animals began and since that time, the Hursts have delivered over 80,000 new stuffed animals to various pediatric cancer wards of Collin and Dallas county hospitals.  The photo is of Adam with a stuffed animal that had been given to him that he kept with him for the 26 days he lived after the diagnosis.
100% of all donations goes to buy new stuffed animals.  The doctors, nurses, EMTs and Care Flight teams all know where the closets are that holds these stuffed animals that can bring a “smile and a giggle” to a scared child and a moment of comfort to the child’s parents.

Please bring NEW stuffed animals to the Rotary meetings or feel free to give money to Community Service Chair Sharon Scott and she will shop for you.  You can also order items to be delivered from the Amazon Wish List and they will be delivered to Sharon’s address automatically:  https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/genericItemsPage/34MWFNDY5OKA6
